Camilla Brison is a theatre director, theatre translator and producer in the field of contemporary dramaturgy.
She graduated with a degree in Cultural Studies from the Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy and the Université de Nîmes, France. She has an MA in Advanced Theatre Practice from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
As a Director, her work includes: No Land Lady by Greta Cappelletti, finalist of the Venice Biennale College Prize for Young Directors 2018, presented in Anni Luce at RomaEuropa Festival 2020, Una Marchesa ad Assisi by Emanuele Aldrovandi and Ippolita Baldini, Sterili by Maria Teresa Berardelli, Winner of the Riccione/Tondelli Prize for Playwriting Excellence 2009, and by the same author, Vuoti di Memoria by Lorenzo Piccolo, Greta Cappelletti and Laura Tassi.
As Assistant Director she has worked on Il Macello di Giobbe (The Slaughter of Job) by Fausto Paravidino and La vita ferma by Lucia Calamaro, Queen Lear by NIna’s Drag Queens and Per il tuo Bene (For Your Own Good) by Pier Lorenzo Pisano.
Her translations include: Kif Kif by Pietro Pizzuti, George Kaplan by Frédéric Sonntag, Sicilia e Tunisia by Clyde Chabot, all from French. From English she has translated Lessons Sweet and Honourable by Edward Fortes and Angry by Philip Ridley.
From 2012 to 2015 she was a member of the Teatro Valle Occupato's Script Committee and the Crisi Playwriting workshop, both led by Fausto Paravidino.
In 2015 and 2017 she was chosen to be part of the Selection Committee for the 2015 Riccione Prize for Theatre.
In 2017, she won a scholarship from Regione Lazio to build project La Pizia, to spread contemporary playwriting, with a focus on italian one. The first step of her research was the creation in 2019, with Edward Fortes and Anna Landi, of Italy Uncovered- new plays from Italy, which first edition took place in autumn 2019 at Theatre503 in London.
In 2020 she joined the Beyond the South program, an exchange of artists from Italy, Greece, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile from which he created, together with Nicolás Lange, the Archipelagos project.
Since 2019 she is audiobook director for Emons.
In addition to Italian, she speaks English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
